MaxAuthor offers a new and simplified process to organize all your files for publishing to the Internet or to CD. These may be construction projects that are in the design, permit approval or bid phase or can be as-built document sets used in facilities management.
Familiar Windows tool bars can be organized to your preference and used to create new documents and for importing image files into the Document Explorer Folders. You may set up custom file naming tables and quick sort functions to meet your standards or create Hotspot links within your document pages. You may want to activate sound and video files or link to active web pages. Enhanced takeoff tools, the rich set of annotation and mark-up tools and the large format print-to-scale capabilities provide the functionality needed to finalize cost estimates, add notes or changes for plan review or provide prints as needed. Folder and sub-folder document organization in MaxAuthor includes the ability to imbed any other file type, such as PDF, DOC, XLS, DWG, etc. as “External” Documents. The entire document set of a bid including specification documents, bid submittal forms, cost estimate tables and drawing images can be organized within one MaxView document.
MaxView 2.0 is XML compliant and as such affords the CAD operator new functionality and significant time savings in creating MaxView documents directly from a group of CAD files containing specific tags with intelligent attributes that are compiled and exported to a MaxView authored document. For example, this may include defining section detail cross-references between drawings with automatically generated hotspots, defining multiple scales on a drawing image and generating the MaxView sheet definition names in the Document Explorer.
An optional companion application, MaxCapture™, converts the original electronic documents and drawings to CAL or TIFF Group IV format, carrying through both pen mapping and pen widths from the CAD file. This application also creates multipage TIFFs or tiled and uncompressed TIFFs, ready for use by MaxAuthor.
Major Corporate and Federal Government organizations such as the US Army Corps of Engineers have used MaxAuthor extensively for electronic bid set distribution and drawing archival. In 2000 the US Air Force also standardized on the product family for all of its electronic bid distribution worldwide.
